Kilimanjaro Machame Route Itinerary
Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport and transfer to Machame Gate.
Start trekking through the rainforest, experiencing lush greenery and tropical vegetation.
Trek for approximately 5-6 hours to Machame Camp (3,000m).
Overnight at Machame Camp.
Hike from Machame Camp to Shira Camp (3,850m).
Trek through moorland, with beautiful views of Kilimanjaro’s upper slopes and expansive landscapes.
Overnight at Shira Camp.
Trek from Shira Camp to Barranco Camp (3,960m).
Cross the Shira Plateau and walk beneath the iconic Barranco Wall.
This day provides a mixture of steep ascents and rewarding views.
Overnight at Barranco Camp.
Climb the famous Barranco Wall and continue on to Barafu Camp (4,640m).
Barafu is the final base camp before the summit.
Overnight at Barafu Camp.
Midnight start for the summit push to Uhuru Peak (5,895m).
After reaching the summit and celebrating, begin the descent to Mweka Camp (3,100m).
Overnight at Mweka Camp.
Descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate.
